A month ago, I walked out. Today? I walked in. All of the little things, like where the extra paper clips are, what corner to keep my umbrella in, where the copier is, my email password, which door to go in and out of. Details. I realized there were about 10,342,671 details that I didn’t know. But, then there is what I do know. It’s a place of learning. When you think about what “school” is, thoughts gravitate to the norm. What we grew up knowing as school. Desks. Chairs. Classrooms. Library Checkout. Cafeteria food. But a school? It’s a place of learning. A place where thinking, creativity, joy, struggle, reflection, collaboration, growth, and connections ooze through the walls. The kind of place that ideas, innovation, and dreams grow.
There are still 10 million things I don’t know. But there is one thing I do. It’s a place of learning. A place I’m so grateful to have walked into.
DISCLAIMER: A little photo tour of the new place… I didn’t take photos of desks, doors, or whiteboards, because that’s not what school is about. There are lots of things growing here… flowers, tomatoes, trees. And I cannot wait until the fall… to see learning grow here.
