There are lots of reasons people blog. Me? I blog to learn, think, reflect, share, and sort through thoughts that roll around inside my mind. Yes, sometimes those thoughts just come out as a poster. I think everyone has their own reasons for blogging, and that’s the beauty of it, your blog is your space. Your little corner of the universe where you can share whatever you want. You make the rules.
We hang posters on our walls in our schools that tell kids, “Be yourself.” So when we share our lives in an online space, we must remember that. We can’t just be a “pretend” version of ourselves. Nobody needs to know everything we’ve ever eaten for lunch. Nobody cares about that stuff. But, our human side? The one that cares so deeply about something it’s painful, that one whose heart swells from being so inspired by something someone else says, that one who struggles with the feeling that they might be the ONLY person who believes in something. It’s that one that’s honest. That’s just who we are.
A blog is about who you are. There’s really not a right way or wrong way to do it. I’ve had people tell me they are afraid to share. Afraid nobody will read it. Afraid they have nothing to say. It’s like the world, really. Afraid to truly be ourselves. But, everyone has a story to tell. A story that can help, inspire, encourage, and support others. Everyone. Share your story.
