I have a secret. My classroom door has been locked since June. Not just locked, but sealed off. I’ve slowed down on blogging about my work because I have been too busy, um, working. But, I’m going to try to blog at least once a week in the coming year, because it forces me to stop and think.
As for the room, I can count the people who’ve been inside on less than two hands. Windows covered, blinds drawn, and sneaking in and out, trying to keep the secret of what was going on behind the door. And I’m sooooo not a good secret keeper… I mean, I give my husband every gift I get for him the day I buy it, whether it’s a Christmas gift in November or not.
For months, I’ve been organizing, decorating, writing curriculum guides, and, okay there have been a few times I have stopped and played, to you know, make sure the stuff was working. *For the record, it’s all working.
This new learning space, “The Launch Pad”… is lifting off later this week. I can’t even yet imagine the things I’m going to learn and share throughout this year, but I know it’s going to be an adventure. A messy, creative, fun, challenging, exciting adventure.
Right now, this moment feels like the night before Christmas when all the toys are sitting out and you can’t wait for your kids to get up in the morning to see it all… except in this situation my kids are the teachers and students I work with and I hope they’ll be just as excited.
