I’m obssessed with making. 3d printing. Gadgets. Tools. Sparkly electronics. Building. Creating. All of it.  But, beyond that?  I want it to mean something.  I refuse to be a part of empty experiences about stuff.  Because when I was a student in school?  Empty experiences about stuff were the norm.  I refuse to teach, or learn, that way ever again. So, I am even more enamored by the connection behind it all.  The story. The learning.  That’s why when I saw this project, I gave it a standing ovation in my living room, and my dog stared at me. I’m not even ashamed.

The “That’s My Cube” Project.  Your students. Learners. My students. Creators. Their students. Us. We all  deserve to be a part of something big. Their thoughts, their creativity, their ideas combined in a collection of stories.  Let’s get them out of their minds, hearts, and hands and share them with the world.

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 8.30.31 PMYou don’t have to have a 3d printer to participate, and you don’t need a doctorate of education in makerspaces to join. You just need a learning story. You have one. Everyone does. Sharing it makes it come alive. Connecting about it? It will make your passion come alive.

I don’t think it matters if your students are 5 or 85, or if you teach math, social studies, or are a kindergarten teacher.  It doesn’t matter if you are a third grader or a senior in college.   This is the world we live in.  It’s not about age, status, titles. It’s about our stories.  Let’s show all learners to value of connecting and being a part of something big. No longer just thinking outside the box, but recreating the box. Something where they can shout, “that’s my cube,” is a hashtag heard around the world.

I’m in, are you?

Soon, you’ll be able to visit the “That’s My Cube”  site and now you can stay up to date by checking out the #thatsmycube hashtag to learn more about this amazing opportunity to be a part of something amazing.
