IFTTT. It stands for If this, then that. It’s a website at www.ifttt.com and an app for the iphone. I’ll admit, the first time I heard about it, I didn’t get. So, I never used it. BIG regret. Today I wanted to have my Instagram photos go to my Flickr account. I love connecting with others through Instagram, but Flickr is my main online photostorage. I love knowing that all the photos I want to keep are in one spot. Plus, this would save me from uploading #edugood shots in multiple places.
Thanks to the beauty of IFTTT, you can create a recipe for “IF (THIS), THEN (THAT).” So I made one, “IF (I upload to instagram with the hashtag #edugood), THEN (Send the photo to my Flickr account, too.)
Then I got greedy. Would it let me share to my Venspired Facebook page, too? Yep. ”IF (I upload to instagram with the hashtag #edugood), THEN (Send the photo to my Facebook page “Venspired.”)
I was also able to automate new posts on this blog to automatically tweet, new posters to my Flickr Set “2014 Posters” to automatically share on my Venspired Facebook page, and if I keep going, I’m sure I will figure out how to create a recipe for tweeting “laundry” and having IFTTT do my laundry at home.
Okay, still working on that laundry thing. But seriously, check out this tool. There are hundreds of recipes already created for your convenience, but you can also easily create your own.
I signed up for an account, and within seconds, had click “CREATE” at the top, then “THIS” and selected my first tool, then “THAT” to select my second tool. It’s quick and will save so much time in the long run. I have a feeling I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to creative ways to help it incorporate Evernote, Google Drive, and so many more tools I use on a daily basis.
IF you like it, THEN share with me please. I’d like to see YOUR recipes.
