I want 2014 to be the year I work harder at being myself. More writing with less editing and careful word choice. More honesty about what I believe in, and less about what others want to hear. More art with less holding back. More focus on the message that my heart writes, and less about the fear that my brain speaks. More meaningful photography, and less instant sharing. More giving to others because it matters, and less just when it’s convenient. More open minded acceptance, less pre-conceived judgments. More connecting with people whose passion inspires me, less focusing on negativity. More embracing the struggle, less taking the easy road. More solitude, less overload.
Sometimes we treat “New Year’s” like it’s an opportunity to become something better. Something new. Something different. But, the reality is, the most important thing we can try to be is ourselves. And that is an opportunity we have each and every day, one moment at a time.
