Every school year I write a mission statement for myself. This year, my position may have changed, but my passion is just the same.
I’ll keep learning. I’ll never ask someone else to do something that I wouldn’t do myself. I’ll always take time to listen. Not just listen, but actually hear. I’ll forever be open to the fact that someone else’s idea is more than likely far better than my own… and it’s THAT fact that makes collaboration so powerful. I’ll continue to realize that the perspectives of others are often the very key to success in implementation. I’ll remember that being completely authentic is way better than trying to please everyone. I’ll continue to let my passion guide me, because passion speaks far louder than a position. I will always see that a short-term fix is not necessarily best for a long-term goal. I’ll embrace change, even when it’s not the easiest way, but it’s the best way. I’ll learn. Every. Single. Day.
I’ll always remember that the vision that keeps me awake in the middle of the night, that stirs up my brain to keep searching for better, and that nags at my heart in the midst of everything else is the vision that’s totally worth it.
