Learning. It’s supposed to be our focus in schools. Growth, exploration, reflection. These things should be commonplace. They should be as common as the tiny milk cartons we serve at lunch and the little chairs that surround tables. Whether we’re talking about the youngest students, oldest students, or our ourselves as teachers. Learning is what happens when you struggle and make it through. It exposes new thoughts in your brain and sometimes even uncovers a whole new passion inside your heart. Learning isn’t always fun and definitely isn’t always easy, but it’s that sense of accomplishment, of growth, of knowing that you were a part of something bigger than yourself. That’s the kind of joy that should be present all throughout our classrooms. The kind of joy that starts with us as teachers and awakens so much within our students, that it inspires us. Because learning? It is a joy.
