I used to have this perception that kids were so excited by devices that just the presence of a computer or an app would make the lesson more exciting. It was a dangerous thought. It’s hard, because I *am* wowed by technology. I grew up with dial up internet. I love animations and gadgets, and I get caught up in websites that are colorful. But those things? It’s their normal.
What’s not their normal in school? Cardboard.
We need more cardboard. Simple. Pure. Boxes and boxes of cardboard. The kind you can tear into, rip apart, tape together, paint, glue, and sculpt with. Build something. Invent something. Design something. Create something. Collaborate with a classmate. Solve a problem.
Think outside the box, and rip the box apart to make something better. And hands on cardboard design? There is no app for that.
