Why Collaboration Matters

edugood12Last year was so hard. Moving, settling in a new city, starting a new position at a new school.  It left my head spinning in a way I’m just now really beginning to understand.  It’s like being in a cloud and searching for familiarity for days on end.  A cloud where you have trouble seeing the light.  Until someone reaches out.

Last year I started a little photo project to see the good.  I’ve blogged about it.  I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue it. The cloud was making it hard to see the good.

But, then they stepped in.  @BuistBunch and the rest.  Collaborators. Within a day? The January theme list was up and running.  Then? February was done.  A Google Doc was going and everyone is adding their ideas.  When I was totally out of ideas, unable to see the good.  They could see it.

So, I’ve been following the assignments.  Taking my daily photo. Scanning Instagram and the Flickr group to see everyone else’s photos.   I already am finding myself waking up in the morning, ready to find the good.  I’ve seen the calm glow in a candle, the brilliant reds in a sunset, the bright colors in my daughter’s art.  Because what we look for? It’s what we’ll see.

And when we have trouble seeing what’s around us?  They are there.  Helping us.  People we connect with. Collaborate with. People that reach out and remind us.

And that? It’s why collaboration matters.  As @debbiefuco tweeted last night with the #edugood hashtag… ” We are better together.”  Yep, I just couldn’t agree more.

Want to connect to the #edugood project? It’s easy…
