This morning I came across one of my most prized possessions from my entire career in education. It’s not some fancy award like my Teacher of the Year plaque, nor a Golden Apple. It’s not even something that was purchased. It was a gift that came straight from the heart. It was a little post-it that was left on my desk one day. A note written with a simple blue ball-point pen. A post-it that I treasure and will always keep. It reminds me of what matters. It reminds me that no matter what our role is in education, our goal is the same. We are all trying to make a difference for someone else. We continue to work to make every single day better than the one before. To make the next year even greater through our daily interactions and impact. Education is far more about building relationships, inspiring others, and growing ourselves into better people than many times we acknowledge. When we take a moment to hear the voice of others, through their words, actions, and even a simple post-it message, we’ll be reminded of what truly matters. And that? It’s the best gift of all.
