I’ve been looking at lots of schools social media accounts. What do I see a majority of? Sports scores. Football team announcements. Cross Country meet results. I can’t help but wonder, are sports the ONLY thing good happening in those schools? I’ve been looking for wonderful examples of schools sharing the learning across the board. 2.) Recap big events on a blog, on your school website, and share it through your Facebook page and Twitter. People may not have time to visit the school website, but when something pops into their social network feed, they’re more likely to see it.

4.) Use iMovie to make a quick video from your iPad or iPhone and share it out. It takes about 2 minutes to create a movie, and it lets people SEE the good happening in your school.
5. ) Encourage a student to interview a staff member in your school and write up a story about what their role in the school is. Get kids involved in sharing the story. Afterall, it’s their story, too.
Of course, your school can keep reporting sports scores, but what about the other stuff? The learning day in and day out? You don’t have to share it. I’m sure if you don’t tell your school’s story, someone else is…
